Exclusive Review By: DVDGUY

Time to fire up the 400 disc DVD player, and watch the first request movie for review, Christmas with the Kranks.

The first thing I will point out is that this DVD does allow you to pick widescreen or full screen for your viewing pleasure. The second is that I have never read the book Skipping Christmas so I will not be able to comment on similarities and differences.

Here's our setup: Mr. & Mrs. Krank take their daughter to the airport, where she will be catching a flight to Peru. Unfortunately this means their daughter will not be home to spend Christmas as a family. Mr. Krank comes to the conclusion that it would be cheaper to spend half the money they usually spend on Christmas decorating on a cruise instead, and skip Christmas entirely. How scrooge like.

Of course the Krank's are the most festive people in town (usually) and when they decide to skip Christmas, it upsets everyone else. (I wish more towns would get upset when people DON'T celebrate Christmas then when they do)

After watching Mr. Krank tell the cub scouts selling trees door to door (where is this place?) I'm wondering
a) How festive could this man have possibly been in previous years?
b) When is he going to kick a puppy?.
Seriously, when you watch this movie, look at the faces on the two scouts when they hear that the Krank's wont be buying a tree.

The Krank's refuse to decorate, but there's a wreath on their door. How odd.

Of course after much fighting, the Kranks are surprised by a phone call from their daughter saying she WILL be home for Christmas and the rush is on to decorate and plan a party before she gets in that evening. Of course nothing goes quite the way they want, but like any good movie everyone pulls together to make the perfect Christmas. Mr. Krank manages to rekindle his Christmas spirit and make peace with his neighbors.
